Thanks to Carol Malone for getting me involved in this blog hop.

Carol’s bio:  Carol Malone has found a magical key for successfully combining her three passions – romance, sports, and writing in her highly rated book, “Fight Card Romance:

Aleyne Mountains

Aleyne Mountains

Ladies Night.” http://amzn.to/1kI4dVo With “Ladies Night,” she became the first woman to punch her way into the suspenseful, male-dominated genre of pulp boxing with a tender love story. Since then she has written numerous stories to entice readers to scramble into a front row seat for a power-packed thrill-ride of romance and sports action.

Look for her novella “Hot Corner Magic” to be published in a pulp sports anthology in the next month or two and a Christmas visit to “Ladies Night” at Christmas time.

If not hammering out new tales, Carol is reading, watching sports or the Food Network on TV, or hanging with her sci-fi author husband on the Coast of California. Come visit her website and chat with her about sports and amour.

And now, meet the main character in the fourth Aleyne Novel, Colonel Rob Walker

1) What is the name of your character?  Is he/she fictional or a historic person?

My character’s name is Colonel Robert Walker, and he is a fictional character in the universe of my Novels of Aleyne. You can read more about the three previous novels here.

2) When and where is the story set?

The story is set several hundred years in the future on the planet of Aleyne. Rob is sent to the Federation Guard base on Aleyne to arrest Major Brad Reynolds for treason. Brad is DesertandMtthe main character in Broken Bonds. The environment around the Guard base is desert, with glittering multi-colored sands. The vegetation is red and the rocks are purple. The Federation and the Aleyni are experiencing strained relations, and the  treaty between them is up for renewal.

3) What should we know about him/her?

Rob is a native of the planet Bel, and as such is a cross between Terran and Aleyni. Like most Belans, he has some mind speech abilities. However, since psi is illegal in the Terran Federation, he must keep this a secret. He also has two wives, though he is officially married to only one of them, and the men on the base resent him for this as well as for arresting the popular Major Reynolds.

4) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?

He’s given the task of bringing the treaty negotiations between the Federation and the Aleyni to a successful conclusion. Unfortunately, neither side is willing to give an inch in the negotiations, and most on both sides would just as soon see the negotiations fail. In addition, Rob’s marriage is troubled, and he secretly yearns for his best friend, Captain Reuben Tyler.

5) What is the personal goal of the character?

To bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion and prove to one and all that he’s able to succeed, and to bring peace to his troubled marriage. The prospects for either appear dim.

6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?

The working title at the moment is Rob’s Rebellion.

Blurb:

Colonel Rob Walker always his duty. So when he’s ordered to bring the treaty negotiations between the Terran Federation and the Aleyni to a successful conclusion, he’s determined to do just that, even when both sides would rather he fail. Can Rob pull off a miracle and avoid a war, one where both sides could be destroyed?

Here are the first two paragraphs as they presently stand:

The squad of Federation Guard soldiers marched down the shuttle ramp and surrounded the unfortunate Major Reynolds, who waited on the blackened surface of the spaceport landing field.

Colonel Robert Walker gazed across the port. The sands just beyond the black-paved surface of the field glittered with reds and blues, and the mountains, five miles distant, loomed purple. A fresh breeze blew the cinnamon scent of the flowers that clustered around the buildings. But the beauty of the landscape contrasted with his sour mood. He was ordered to arrest the commander of the Federation base and take control of it, here on an alien planet where the native Aleyni would just as soon see the entire base drop into a hole and disappear. “Major Reynolds, you are accused of high treason and are remanded to the planet of New Oregon for trial.”
