I’ve been tagged! and I’m answering questions about my work-in-progress, an adult science fiction novel set in the universe of my recently-published novel, Relocated
What is the working title of your book?
Where did the idea for this book come from?
From a question I asked myself about back-story in my recently published novel, “Relocated.” I ended up with a single sentence in “Relocated” – -and another novel.
What genre does your book fall under?
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Touch one — but my choices so far:
Brad Reynolds: Benjamin Bratt
Ardaval: Morgan Freeman
Imarin: Samuel L. Jackson
Nidrani: Jada Smith Pinkett
Senator Hank Manning: Mel Gibson or Harrison Ford
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
When Major Brad Reynolds is assigned head the Terran Federation base on planet Aleyne, the last thing he expects to find is love, and certainly not with one of the alien Aleyni. But can he keep it, in the face of political maneuvering and of Ardaval’s feelings for his former partners — and theirs for him.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I’ll be submitting the manuscript first to the publisher of “Relocated.” We’ll see what they say. But I doubt I’ll go for an agent in any case.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
A couple of months.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
At the moment, nothing comes to mind except, perhaps, much as I hate to say it, some of the later Robert A. Heinleins.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
My characters kept hounding me, saying “Write me.”
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
I’m writing about a human man and three aliens — two men and a woman — involved in a four-way romance.
